So hard to be the perfect chief!

20140604-010944.jpgI see this almost everyday in Portuguese organizations.

Bosses tend to promote those employes that are completely loyal, totally helpful very hard working and technically competent.
Giving management roles to many of these workers is a poisoned gift. Their identities are build over personal effort and discipline and usually don’t include concepts like “delegation”, “empowering others”, “coordination” or “feedback”.
I’m curious to listen professionals from other countries about this topic. Is this usual in your countries? How do organizations address this kind of problem?
